How the equity funds rank
Direct Growth returns to 16 October 2026; rank is among Direct Growth funds in the same category with that much history.

| Small Cap | 9.86% | 20.52% | 3 of 26 | 17.60% | 3 of 21 |
| Focused | 2.42% | 19.91% | 1 of 27 | 13.41% | 3 of 22 |

| Contra | −4.80% | 13.16% | 2 of 3 | 11.25% | 3 of 3 |
| Large Cap | −1.65% | 12.82% | 2 of 30 | 9.77% | 2 of 27 |
| Multi Cap | −2.82% | 11.83% | 16 of 23 | 10.37% | 7 of 9 |
| ELSS Tax Saver | −3.17% | 11.27% | 18 of 48 | 8.32% | 32 of 41 |
Six of the nine are in the top five of their category over three years, and the Mid Cap, Large & Mid Cap, Small Cap, Focused and Large Cap funds are also in the top three over five. Our fund-by-fund comparisons of mid-cap funds and large and mid-cap funds have the detail. The weak spots are the ELSS fund, 32nd of 41 over five years, and the Multi Cap fund, which is 16th of 23 over three.
One-year ranks are less flattering: Mid Cap is 19th of 31, and Small Cap 15th of 31. Three years is a long run of rising mid and small caps, and a one-year view of the same funds is more ordinary.
Fees below the median
| Fund | Direct TER | Category median |
|---|---|---|
| Small Cap | 0.64% | 0.90% |
| Focused | 0.69% | 1.09% |
| Mid Cap | 0.76% | 0.94% |
| Large & Mid Cap | 0.78% | 1.07% |
| Flexi Cap | 0.88% | 0.95% |
| Large Cap | 0.90% | 1.06% |
| ELSS Tax Saver | 1.19% | 1.07% |
All of the best-ranked funds charge less than their category's middle fund, by up to 0.40 points. The ELSS fund, the weakest, is the one that charges more than its median. Our Canara Robeco profile is the opposite case: low fees and mid-table ranks.
What the numbers do not tell you
Three years is a mid-and-small-cap run. Funds in those categories gained from the period, and the table is a snapshot of it.
Categories are small. A contra "category" has three funds, so 2 of 3 is not much of a rank.
Arbitrage assets are not equity bets. The biggest scheme in the house is a hedged fund; the average-asset figures mix very different products.
None of this is a recommendation to buy or sell any fund.
