The climb, level by level
Silver stood at ₹7 when our daily record begins on 30 August 2000. It first closed at or above ₹10 on 1 March 2004 and at or above ₹300 on 26 January 2026. Prices are the India rate in rupees per gram; here is when each round figure first appeared.
| Silver level | First close at or above | Time since the previous level |
|---|---|---|
| ₹10 | 1 March 2004 | from ₹7 on 30 August 2000 |
| ₹20 | 19 April 2006 | 2.1 years |
| ₹30 | 14 September 2010 | 4.4 years |
| ₹50 | 2 March 2011 | 6 months |
| ₹75 | 11 April 2024 | 13.1 years |

| ₹150 | 12 November 2025 | 5 months |
| ₹200 | 23 December 2025 | 41 days |
| ₹250 | 14 January 2026 | 22 days |
| ₹300 | 26 January 2026 | 12 days |
Each row is the first daily close at or above the level, not the first intraday touch, and not a promise that the level held: Silver has since closed below ten of these levels after first reaching them. The record starts on 30 August 2000 at ₹7.
Fastest and slowest legs
- Fastest: from ₹250 to ₹300 took 12 days (14 January 2026 to 26 January 2026).
- Slowest: from ₹50 to ₹75 took 13.1 years (2 March 2011 to 11 April 2024).
The legs are not equal in percentage terms: ₹1,000 on top of ₹1,000 is a doubling, while ₹1,000 on top of ₹10,000 is 10%. The early legs look quick in rupees and slow in percentage, and the late ones are the reverse.
Where it stands
The highest close on record is ₹339 on 26 January 2026. On 21 October 2026 Silver was at ₹175, 48.3% below that peak and below the ₹300 level it first reached on 26 January 2026.
Reading the table
- Round numbers are a way to read history, not a signal. Nothing about ₹300 makes it more or less likely to hold than ₹301.
- A metal pays no income, so its price is the whole return; compare it with an index only after allowing for that.
- The series is the India rate per gram, which includes the rupee's moves against the dollar.
