The quarter's growers
The mutual fund industry's average assets rose 1.97% from January–March to April–June 2026, from ₹81,53,966 crore to ₹83,14,467 crore. A house had to grow faster than that just to keep its market share, and 32 of the 51 did.
These are AMFI's quarterly average AUM (AAUM) figures for each house, excluding domestic fund-of-funds.

| Bank of India | 14,171 | 15,446 | 9.0% |

| LIC | 46,461 | 49,535 | 6.6% |
Helios crossed ₹10,000 crore this quarter, as Zerodha did the quarter before.
Two houses near the top of this table are reversals. quant had shrunk 8.1% in January–March and grew 7.9% now, almost back to its October–December level of ₹96,110 crore. Motilal Oswal went from a 1.7% fall to an 8.2% rise, the fastest growth of any house above ₹1 lakh crore. Bajaj Finserv also swung, from −4.6% to +7.8%.
Others kept going but slowed. Zerodha grew 43.6% in January–March and 11.5% now; Jio BlackRock 21.5% and then 7.6%. WhiteOak Capital is the one that sped up, from 10.8% to 13.2%.
Smaller houses grew faster still from small bases. Abakkus rose 78.3% to ₹5,580 crore, Old Bridge 33.2% to ₹3,419 crore and Groww 22.1% to ₹5,106 crore.
Most rupees added
| Fund house | Added (₹ crore) | Growth | Share change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nippon India | 26,554 | 3.7% | +0.15 pts |
| ICICI Prudential | 10,793 | 1.0% | −0.13 pts |
| Motilal Oswal | 10,788 | 8.2% | +0.10 pts |
| Kotak Mahindra | 9,510 | 1.6% | −0.02 pts |
| Axis | 9,429 | 2.6% | +0.03 pts |
| SBI | 9,349 | 0.7% | −0.18 pts |
Nippon India added more than twice as much as anyone else and gained the most share. ICICI Prudential and SBI were second and sixth in rupees but still lost share, because 1.0% and 0.7% growth trails a 1.97% industry.
Who shrank
Nine houses had a lower average than in January–March, against 22 the quarter before. Only two lost more than ₹1,000 crore:
- Aditya Birla Sun Life: down ₹8,191 crore (1.9%), its second fall in a row
- Baroda BNP Paribas: down ₹1,459 crore (2.7%)
The other seven, including The Wealth Company (down 7.6%) and Shriram (down 7.5%), lost less than ₹150 crore each.
Over the year
From April–June 2025 the industry grew 15.26%. Two houses that were well below ₹10,000 crore a year ago are now above it: Helios (₹4,131 crore then) and Zerodha (₹6,292 crore). WhiteOak Capital has grown 84.3%, from ₹20,286 crore to ₹37,392 crore. Among the large houses, PPFAS grew 38.5% and Motilal Oswal 36.7% over the twelve months.
What this does not tell you
Growth mixes money and markets. The Nifty Smallcap 250's average close rose 6.54% from January–March to April–June while the Nifty 50's fell 4.75%, so a house heavy in small- and mid-cap funds got more help from prices than one heavy in large-cap funds. These figures cannot separate inflows from price moves.
Averages lag. A quarter's average catches only part of money that arrived late in it.
Growth is not a recommendation. Inflows say nothing about the returns that follow.
