Three things worth noticing

Hybrid index funds are a new template. HDFC and Motilal Oswal each opened a 70:30 index fund that mixes an equity index with an 8–13 year government securities index. These are index funds that hold both stocks and bonds, so they sit between an equity index fund and a balanced fund. They do not have long records, so no returns can be quoted.

Quant opened three index funds on one day. On 12 October it launched Nifty 50, Nifty 100 and Nifty Midcap 150 index funds together. The Nifty 50 already has dozens of rivals; our cheapest Nifty 50 index funds shows how little separates them on cost.

Newer names appear. Carnelian opens a liquid fund, and Jio BlackRock and Zerodha also launched. See the newest fund houses in India for who is new.

Before you apply to any of them

  • A new fund has no record. Compare it with funds in the same category using the screener, and check its expense ratio when it appears.
  • A ₹10 unit price does not make an NFO cheap. Our low NAV myth post explains why.
  • For more on whether to invest at launch at all, read should you invest in an NFO.

Frequently asked questions

Does a new fund offer have any advantage?

No. A NFO units price at ₹10 whatever the underlying market is doing, so a low unit price is not cheaper. A new fund has no track record, so its category peers are the only guide to what it might do.

Which AMCs launched the most?

Aditya Birla Sun Life and quant launched three each, ICICI Prudential two, and Carnelian, Jio BlackRock, Mirae Asset, Zerodha, WhiteOak, HDFC, Kotak, Motilal Oswal and Nippon India one each.

Are these all of India's launches?

They are the NFOs on our list with opening dates from 28 September to 12 October 2026. Our list comes from published launch notices, so a launch announced late may be missing.
